Driving truck is a very exciting career, but do you really know what it's like ? Navigating 40 tons of machinery needs concentration. Day, night, good weather or bad trucks are delivering freight to someone somewhere. It's great when there's little or no traffic, but traffic is ever increasing. Most drivers on the road have never even set foot in a big rig. It's not easy to stop a truck, you need s p a c e to allow that much weight to come to a stop. Traffic conditions, drivers in a hurry to be somewhere, rubber-necking at someone else's misfortune and a general disconcern for others on the road make an already tough job even harder. In general there's more to driving a truck than holding a steering wheel. Trucker's do more paper work than a small paper mill. If their penmanship is not exact it can result in a fine ! How many of you were ever fined for making a mistake in your handwriting? There's also being away from home , sometimes for weeks. You say well that's the life they chose? Well sometimes, days can go by waiting to get a load that will get you moving again. Most drivers don't earn a dime | ||||||||||||||||
